There are two methods we use for this type of repair depending on the severity of the damage and the age of the pipes.
Sewer Pipe Lining
We use trenchless pipe lining when rehabilitating pipes with cracks, leaks, or corrosion. The first step is inspecting the pipes using a sewer line camera to identify the issues and determine if lining is the best solution.
We then clean the pipes using hydro jetting to remove dirt, debris, and roots and allow the lining to adhere to the pipe perfectly. We then take measurements of the damaged pipe and cut our lining according to the measurements. The lining usually acts as the new pipe once we complete the process.
The next step to trenchless sewer repair is measuring and mixing our two-part resin that will act as an adhesive for the lining. Before pouring the resin into the liner, we insert it into a calibration tube to inflate the liner during curing. After pouring the resin into the liner, we 'wet it out' to saturate all its fibers with the resin, then load it into an inversion tank to help us blow the liner into the pipe.
We use compressed air from the tank to feed the liner into the pipe and turn it inside out such that the resin glues onto the pipe. We then wait for it to cure and conduct a final inspection to ensure it is in place.
Pipe Bursting
We use this method for pipes damaged beyond repair. We start the trenchless sewer replacement process by making small access holes on both ends of the old pipe. We then insert a hard metal bursting head into the old pipe to tear it apart and leave a gap in the ground. We usually have a new and flexible pipe attached to the bursting head such that it replaces the new one as we go.
